W/ me, Talk therapy: I'd utilize relationship building talk therapy to watch the process as trust waxes & wanes and increase tolerance for discomfort with positive & negative feelings. If there was a need for severe depression or manic symptom control with meds, i'd refer out for that. I've not had to so far. Historically (i do mean way back) i thought of this as a re-parenting issue and i'd try to correct for it.

Borderline PD: People with borderline pd usually need long term psychotherapy -- generally insight-oriented. Many of the issues are interpersonal, & will probably arise in relationship with the therapist. Working through them provides opportunity for healing. Dialectical behavioral therapy is additional help with skills to manage painful emotions. Medications for depression, anxiety, and psychotic episodes.
