Dialectical: Being a borderline is a terrible burden itself & it's great to be willing to start treatment. Relationships will be far better & the patient experiences the joys of being well-liked, often for the first time. The psychologist at my school tells me that dialectical behavior therapy is the treatment of choice. Look forward, look outward, learn new skills & reprogram yourself for a happy life.

Meds & therapy: Borderline personality disorder is often the result of childhood trauma. It results in emotions and relationships being chaotic much of the time. Medication and therapy work best together. Xanax (alprazolam) is not a long term answer. However, long term therapy that includes trauma, relaxation, dbt and relationship therapies can be very helpful. See an md, psychiatrist and therapist.
