HPV: Human papillomavirus (known as hpv) is a very common sexually transmitted infection. There are many types of this virus and some are associated with genital warts. There are multiple cancers, especially cervical cancer in women, associated with the virus--though these cancers do not directly arise from the genital warts. Talk to your doctor about screening tests and hpv vaccines that are available.
