ID = having an IQ: score of 70 or < by standardized tests of abstract thinking, problem-solving, planning, academic learning, etc. + deficits in cognitive, social & practical adaptive skills, beginning before age 18. Functional level & need for supports differs for mild, IQ 50-70, moderate.,IQ 35-49, severe, IQ 20-34 & profound , IQ < 20 ID. Evaluation for genetic & other medical causes is needed for all.
