Usually months: This can be a very difficult disease to treat. Patients who have spread to many different parts of the body have a very limited survival. A very small percentage of patients with stage IV gastric adenocarcinoma have isolated metastasis that can be effectively treated with surgery and chemotherapy, but this is extremely unusual.
