Need labwork: Women can be perimenopausal for 15 years before actual menopause. Progesterone is the first hormone to decline, but hot flashes & night sweats can be related to thyroid or cortisol abnormalities, & other disorders. A doctor with a special interest in anti aging medicine would do a history & physical exam, along with appropriate labwork to determine cause. Go with bioidentical hormones, if needed.

Several causes: The average age for menopause is 50 to 52, but any time after the age of 40 is considered normal for menopause. Thyroid abnormalities can cause your symptoms as well as other medical issues. You should see your doctor for evaluation.
