What causes nigh sweats in post menopausal women?

NIGHT SWEATS: Decreasing estrogen levels create the vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats.

We don't know: We believe night sweats and hot flashes occur in post menopausal women as a result of interactions of the nervous system with the vascular system in estrogen deficient women. These symptoms are more prevalent in african-american women, obese women, and smokers.
