Acid mantle: Acid mantle is actually the thin, water-fatty layer on the skin that protects us against the environment. This layer has a ph around 5.4-5.9 (making it in the acid range). There are creams that strive to aid the acid mantle and enhance this barrier. A product that calls itself an acid mantle is usually a moisturizing or barrier cream.
