Of the numerous heart rate zone conditioning formulas. who's formula do you feel is the most productive for a male 46 year old amateur athlete?

Heart rate: I personally don't believe there's a lot of firm evidence for any of the zone rate conditioning formuli. If you're sweating heavily and breathing reasonably heavily for about half an hour you should be conditioning well. If you mix in burst exercise(fartlicking) that has been shown to increase the rate of conditioning.

General rules below: Consider exercising for a sustained period of time (20-40 minutes) at 60-70% of your maximum heart rate. One formula we use is 220-age. So for you, 220-46 =174. 174 x 0.6 = 104. 174 x 0.7 = 122. So, strive to keep your heart rate between 104 and 122.
