An ultrasound is one of the best tests i medicine when it is used to diagnose gallstones. However, that does not mean you need your gallbladder removed. A gallbladder should be removed for symptoms - stones are not an indication for surgery.

Labwork and upper endoscopy could rule out ulcers, or other stomach problems. A history of pain after fatty foods is usually enough unless you have other symptoms.
