Both need TX: Self cutting is usually due to psychological factors often related to personality issues. A person could also be bipolar. It is even possible that cutting is intensified when the bipolar condition is exacerbated. If a true bipolar condition is present, it should be treated usually by medication. The cutting behavior should be treated by psychotherapy.

Cutting...: You should see a psychiatrist for further evaluation. Cutting does not equal bipolar disorder. Some people use cutting as a relief for anxiety. They use it as a coping mechanism. Find something other then cutting as a healthy alternative for coping with stress, anxiety, anger, or depression. A therapist and psychiatrist can help with that. Good luck.

Cutting: Meds and therapy together are your best bet. Get a psychiatric evaluation for what ails you, and what cutting means to you as well as anything else that may be going on. Then get a referral to a reputable psychotherapist to help with the emotional issues behind cutting. DO THIS RIGHT NOW. TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER AND GO TO YOUR LOCAL EMERGENCY ROOM OR DIAL 911 IMMEDIATELY.
