Hateful Horseflies: A horsefly actually slices off skin when it bites you with it's scimitars. It then licks your blood. This causes a histamine release with immediate swelling (bump) in the area which is painful & itches. It can trigger an allergic reaction with hives and wheezing. Allergic reactions could also cause swelling of airway, lips, mouth or tongue with difficulty breathing, dizziness and generalized.
