Klonopin/buspar: Klonopin (clonazepam) and Buspar (buspirone) work by different mechanisms in the brain to lower anxiety/arousal. Klonopin works by the neurotransmitter GABA and Buspar by serotonoin. Importantly, meds like Klonopin are not safe from weeks 8-12 in pregnancy. It id always wise to share your med. Response, symptoms, and concerns with your doctor to be comfortable with your treatment!

No: It is not the same. Klonopin is a sedative, tranquilizer used to treat breakthrough anxiety as needed. Buspar (buspirone) is used to treat anxiety but it is not a sedative. They both treat anxiety but Buspar (buspirone) is nonsedating most of the time.
