Very heavy bleeding that doesn't respond to conservative therapy, severe pelvic pain with or without urination, bm or sex, large size (felt abdominally) and rapid growth among others. Most women with fiobroids don't need hysterec.

Not necessarily: Many women in 40s (particularly African-American women) have fibroids. They only need treatment if they are causing symptoms (exs. heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, increased urinary frequency). Treatment could be hysterectomy, although there is a safer, less invasive procedure with much shorter recovery Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) which she could consider. Gets to keep her uterus !
