TSH: Stands for "thyroid stimulating hormone". If the thyroid gland is not doing its job well, the brain notices it. It then manufactures tsh. The hormone then tries to stimulate the thyroid. The only reason for increase in TSH is because it has failed to awaken the thyroid and becomes a lab test for thyroid inadequacy.
