Not if: It is a muscle spasm--they tend to hurt most where the muscle attaches--in this case, at the base of your skull. If you are having fevers, though, should see a dr. Asap. If not, cold compresses to area and Ibuprofen should help with discomfort & can postpone dr visit to if does not improve on own after 5-7 days.
