A member asked:

I have secondary progressive ms; since i do not have relapses any more, why would i need to see an ms specialist?

May not: As there is no proven treatment to slow secondary progressive ms, mostly you might need to see pt or a pm&r doc, along with your regular doc. Checking in every few years with an ms specialist might be prudent.

Stability: Secondary progressive MS is very difficult to treat, but several interventions may help, and new medications are being developed. MS can be associated with many co-morbidities and these issues can make your situation far worse. The doctor needs to check for occult infections, vitamin deficiencies, issues with memory and concentration, and alert you to new interventions which may appear.
