A member asked:

How credible are the findings of a new published study linking omega 3 supplementation to prostate cancer risk?

Not at all: The study was an association between blood levels of omega 3's and prostate cancer. It was not a study showing that taking omega 3's causes or increases the risk of prostate cancer. There has been no study to show omega 3's cause prostate cancer. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or the internet.

Omega3&prostate: The study was additional info obtained from the select trial which was looking at vit e and selenium. Not a prospective randomized study which is the gold standard. The study looked at men DX with ca and the control group was men that were not...No instructions or standardization on timing of psa, biopsy, and what was required. So at this point the jury is out on the link between omega 3 and ca.
