Decreased Insulin: In the setting of chemotherapy, broad systemic toxicity is possible with one potential affected organ being the pancreas. Should the beta cells of the pancreas be injured or reduced in number, the body will have a lower overall capability to produce endogenous (internally produced) insulin. Low Insulin secretion is associated with high blood glucose levels. This setting may require Insulin tx.
