Mri report says moderate attenuation and degenerative signal posterior horn medial meniscus status what does that mean?

Degenerative change: Menisci are two (medial and lateral) c-shaped pieces of cartilagenous tissue in knee joint which act as shock absorbers. With age and wear and tear, menisci get thinner (attenuated) and undergo internal degeneration which increases signal on certain mr sequences. Menisci can also tear, in which case the internal signal has more linear appearance and extends to outer surface of meniscus.

Thinning & degenerat: Attenuation means thinning, and degerative signal means just that. Can b from repeated trauma to the posterior or the back of the knee attachment of the meniscus. This can b cn in older age groups from wear & tear. In ur age group it may b cn in people who do deep squats as in catchers, lifters or occupations that require this. Plumbers & more. Try 2 c if u do this in ur daily life.
