Do you think i should get on an anti-depression med for situational depression?

Dr. Heidi Fowler answered

Specializes in Psychiatry

That depends.: It talking therapy alone isn't adequate -sometimes medications help. However, don't expect the pills to make your problems go away or to prevent you from reacting to problematic situations. They help with abnormal sleep, appetite, energy level, drive etc.

Coping skills: Agree with dr. Fowler. To add, reevaluate what worked for you in the past and works now. Look at things you can/cannot control. Keep your routine to make your environment more predictable. Do self-care, exercise, relaxation. Focus on your thoughts and how they influence your sense of well-being. Having a mental health professional to guide you through the process will help.. Good luck!
