A member asked:

How hard is it usually to get off of antidepressants?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends if better: Stopping meds before you are all better for at least 6-12 months can be difficult. Your brain hasn't healed and withdrawal sx are combined with relapse. More than half of my patients relapse off meds even after full recovery. By the 3rd time relapse is 90% off meds. Think of it as insurance to prevent relapse. You treat hypertension and diabetes indefinitely and they don't make you feel so bad.
