Y wouldnt u: Antidepressants or other psychiatric meds are serious meds and while modern antiderpressants are safer than some of the old, they can interact with other meds. Without a proper medical, psychiatric or psychological eval how can one even know whether a certain treatment is appropriate. Medical conditions can cause depressive symptoms. For medical, diagnostic and treatment reasons see a doc!

Yes: FDA approved antidepressant medications would require a prescription. However,herbal remedies do not.
