There are several : Disease processes which significantly affect the GI motility. Colonic inertia, hypothyroidism, parkinsons, poorly controlled diabetes, cystic fibrosis, hirschprung, polypharmacy, sceloderma, multiple sclerosis, cancer, and several more. If your symptoms are not improved by dietary or lifestyle modifications then you need a full GI workup.
