Yes: Lets say you chew fat till the taste is gone, you are still getting the calories from some of the fat. If you chew an orange, you are still getting some of the calories from the orange. Some digestion of starches begins in the mouth and chewing carbohydrates, begins the digestion of the liquid in the mouth even if you throw away the solid part.
