Feel?: No really, they should not be tender or indurated or inflamed - there are various reasons that can cause them to become this way. Sometimes too, patients feel enlarged lymph nodes, not actually the glad. Either way, it would be good to go in for an evaluation of this condition.

Yes: As you noted your submandibular glands are under the angle of your lower jaw. They are normally the size of a walnut and can be palpated in the average patient. However, inflammation caused by infection and/or salivary stones can increase the prominence of your glands.If you have other symptoms such as tightness on eating certain foods or pain, see your dentist or md as antibiotics may be required.
