Eaten away? : I'm very sorry about your father. As for his pancreas, I am assuming that the pathologist who did the autopsy referred to it as "eaten away" as a way to describe it to a lay person so that you may better visualize what it looked like. The medical term would most likely be "necrotic." this basically means dead tissue which can happen to the pancreas if you drink alcohol to excess for many years.
