Command halluc.: If you have thoughts or voices telling you what to do, this could be command hallucinations. It would be a psychotic symptom. In schizoaffective disorder, the person has both mood cycles like bipolar, plus ongoing psychotic symptoms like delusions, paranoia, hallucinations, etc. It can sometimes be a difficult diagnosis to make because the person might appear differently form one time to next.

Schizoaffective: If your doctor is not sure then it is probably more important to treat the specific aspects of your life that are troubling you rather than focusing on a one word diagnosis. You are more complicated than one word, and yes if the diagnosis is correct you could experience a psychotic break but not necessarily in my experience. Best wishes.

Schizoaffective: It belongs to the schizophrenia spectrum disorders & other psychotic disorders, according to our upcoming diagnostic manual for mental illnesses. It shows abnormal moods along with distortions in perceptions, such as delusions/hallucinations.
