Similar, indeed: It may be really difficult to tell the difference. Cognition elements like perceptual disturbances (i.e. Hallucinations) and/or disordered thought processes, including delusions and disorganized speech and thinking are primary in both. Frequent episodes of significant mood disorder (high and/or low) is also present in schizoaffective disorder. In simple schizophrenia mood is often flat.
