Yes: Make sure your activities arent making it worse. Working on computers, piano, etc, etc. Anything that keeps your hands in an awkward position. Try aleve (naproxen) or advil with food. Finally, try using a good wrist splint, esp at night. This will keep your hand in a neutral position. If you have worsening symptoms or weakness, follow up.

Other therapies: Sometimes a hand therapist can add other options for you to manage and improve function. In my clinic, we use biophysical therapies like microcurrent and pemf which can sometimes completely resolve the symptoms without surgery.

Carpal Tunnel : It is not all that unusual to have patients with carpal tunnel syndrome who don't need early surgery or maybe never. Prevention is generally focused on limiting those motions of the wrist that in most people provoke the median nerve, namely prolonged flexion at the wrist and repetitive flexion and extension.

Consider: Nocturnal wrist splints will prevent the flexion activities that compress the nerve, and maybe you will benefit from usage of vitamin b-6 100 mg twice daily.
