Why do people have their adenoids taken out?

Adenoidectomy : Adenoidectomy is one of the most commonly performed surgeries in the us, and almost all cases occur in children. There are 3 major reasons to have the adenoids shrunk or removed: 1) chronic nasal obstruction and runny nose, 2) obstructive sleep apnea, 3) chronic middle ear issues also requiring repeated ear tube placement. It is a safe procedure with very little recovery afterwards.
