Depends on cause: Viral adenoid infection may last 7-10 days but will go away without treatment. Bacterial may continue until antibiotics given. It may be irritated by allergy so antihistamines or topical steroid nasal sprays may help. There is a chronic adenoid infection which is very difficult to clear.Sometimes saline nasal rinses help.
