Ankle sprain: If it was a mild sprain, you should improve over the next few days/weeks by wearing an ankle brace, resting, ice and elevating the ankle. If the injury was more severe, the pain may remain. In that case, you might require further evaluation by a podiatrist or foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon.
