A member asked:

Could you tell me if my partner & myself have only had sex with each other, can we still get the hpv virus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Only if....: If you were both virgins (including oral sex) at the time of your first sex and have remained totally monogamous with absolutely no relationships with anyone else, then you are not at risk for hpv. But even one encounter - again including oral encounters- can put the risk there because hpv is soooooo prevalent. Some studies show 70% of people are infected by 1 year after their first sex.
