how long do doctors keep medical records? how long are they allowed to? i'm wanting some old ones from 2006, thanks! how do i ask for them?

Medical records: Different states have different requirements for keeping medical records. Generally doctors' offices keep these records in storage, if patients are no longer active. Electronic medical records may be kept indefinitely. You could ask your doctor's office for a copy of your records, and they should give this to you if they have it.
