My daughter who is 13 years old has just been diagnosed with a twisted spine what are the next few years going to be like for her?

Common finding: Mild scoliosis is often detected in kids as they begin their growth spurt. They are vulnerable to some worsening in the 10-17 yr age group and scheduled followup every 6 mo with your doc is often the only recommendation. If the twist or curve meets specific rate of change or degree of tilt, bracing may be used. In rare cases, surgery is used to stabilize the spine.

Depends: Depends on degree-must be measured follow up with orthopedist may require physical therapy or if worsens then wearing a brace only severe cases get surgery.
