See below: This needs to be checked out by your primary as potential cause could be temporal arteritis another autoimmune disease like ra. See if is scalp above his ear is tender and ask if he is having any new visual changes or his jaw going numb or feeling tired when he chews. If he has any of those symptoms, he definitively needs to be seen as soon possible for testing for temporal arteritis.
