A member asked:

How much tissue is taken off the cervix for a leep?for leep are they essentially amputating a portion of the cervix?scar tissue? how impact pregnancy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

LEEP procedure: The amount of tissue removed will depend on the size if the lesion needing removal. This can range from a dime to a quarter size in area. Unless there is involvement of the endo cervical canal, the depth of tissue removed is less than 5mm. Scarring resulting in cervical stenosis is rare and easily managed. Single leep conizations rarely impact pregnancy. Multiple leeps can cause cx incompetence.
