Cause of hydrocephal: Depression post shunt placement is common. Has shunt placement/cns-pressures been checked? Her drinking may be "self medicating" for depression or anxiety. Post shunt her risks for seizures is increased and alcohol makes it worse. Alcohol alone can cause irritability. Irritability can be part of depression or anxiety or some seizures. Discuss with neurosurgeon & fam. Dr., maybe see a psychiatrist.
