Ball and socket: Your jaw joint has a fluid within the capsule to lubricate the cartilage disc that separates your lower jaw from your skull bone(temporal). When your lower jaw goes to far back it will push the disc forward resulting in pain and clicking in your jaw joint area. The treatment is wearing a removable appliance to distract your lower jaw down and reposition the disc which will stop your pain and click.
