A member asked:

Ebv positive had lumbar puncture if ebv infection showed in the spinal fluid what is the outcome of this would it prove to my doc autoimmune disease ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: Ebv is very common, and many younger pts experience infectious mononucleosis, but very few go on to develop an autoimmune condition of any type. Assume the lumbar puncture was done to look at possible central nervous system disease, perhaps ms, and typically, most doctors would not order ebv titers in spinal fluid. Perhaps you need to schedule a conference with your doctor and get more info.
