Not necessarily : The routine use of microscopes in the grand scheme of things are relatively recent to dentistry (meaning less than 25 years) root canals have been performed for way beyond that. It's more the materials used and the technique and skill of the endodontist that should be considered. A microscope is an expensive piece of equipment and merits a place in an endo office but is not the standard if ca.

No: Microscopes are relatively new to dentistry and are not used in every office or every procedure. The most important factor in determining if you had good treatment is the skill, knowledge and training of the treating dentist.

Think about it: While the microscope is not universally used, the benefits it brings towards a positive outcome are huge. A provider that uses it skillfully and to its potential will have a much higher chance at providing a superior result. More conservative preservation of tooth, detection of cracks, less missed canals, cleaner and higher quality restorative. Its all upside. I would never practice without it.

Endo microscope: Without doubt any device that enables a dentist to see better or perform the many tasks in dentistry has merit. Dental loupes ; microscopes are being used more ; more in medicine ; dentistry for obvious reasons. However, they are not considered essential or standard of care in performing endodontic therapy. Using them does not guarantee quality, ; not using them does not equate with poor quality.
