A member asked:

Should i see an endodontist or a regular dentist if i need a root canal for a molar that has a very large cavity?

Molar root canal: An endodontist is a specialist in root canals and they can do the root canal for you but your regular dentist will restore your tooth with a crown. It would be good to see your regular dental first to make certain that the tooth has enough solid structure left that you can do the root canal and crown.

Either: Someone has to make the decision as to whether the cavity has caused the tooth to be beyond repair. Someone also has to make the decision as to whether the tooth requires the ministrations of a General Dentist or a specialist Endodontist. Making these decisions requires examination and imaging. What is important is you start the diagnostic process quickly. See either one.
