A member asked:

Is the laughing gas you get at the dentist dangerous?

Not if: Administered professionally and according to medically approved guidelines by a licensed professional for a given procedure. With that said, everything in life has some potential risk, but in the grand scheme of things it is quite safe under the above mentioned conditions. Hope this helps.

No: When used properly, it can help one stay calm and relaxed when undergoing any dental procedure. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is used most often during complex oral surgery procedures and in young children with advanced dental disease. The only people who should avoid its use are pregnant women.
