Sometimes: Some dentists and patients feel that the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) help the patients deal with the stress or anxiety of many dental procedures. It is also an analgesic (helps the patient feel less pain during the procedure). Many patients report that nitrous oxide makes them feel like they have a "light buzz".
