Fairly: Easy procedure. The surgeon will usually go back through same incision remove screws and plate if there is one then suture it up. Important to follow your doctors post op instructions!

Should be ok: Removing ankle hardware is done routinely. This is usually because the screws and or plates are irritating you and cause pain. It is not as bad as the actual surgery. If the ankle fracture has already healed, then it should be fine. Usually depending on the surgeon, small incisions are made and the hardware is removed under live x-ray. Recovery is usually very quick pending no infections.
