Feeling restless and aggressive when taking the anti-psychotic amisulpride/solian. is this normal?

Yes: Amisulpride (not fda approved in the us) increases plasma norepinephrine. Akathisia is characterized by unpleasant sensations of severe inner restlessness. One in ten people taking amisulpride experience akathisia. Akathisia develops from increased levels of norepinephrine. Norepinephrine regulates aggression. Increased norepinephrine is associated with increased aggression and restlessness.

Known effects: I agree with my colleague that these are known effects from this medication -- but it's not "normal" to continue suffering them. Please contact your psychiatrist and tell him/her what's happening with you. This is not what s/he would want for you, and s/he may need to change your medication.

Solian: Per Drugs.Com - Solian/ amisulpride has been associated with aggressive reactions & agitation in to 10% of people. If you have become aggressive on this medication, please promptly advise your psychiatrist. Feeling restless may be akathisia which is a fairly common side effect with antipsychotic medications.
