A member asked:

I started on crestor (rosuvastatin) 5mg recently. is it for lifelong now ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: For those unfortunate people who have had heart attacks or a genetic predisposition to very high cholesterol (especially ldl), a statin is probably recommended for life. Otherwise, there are lifestyle changes that can sometimes work as well as statins, including a diet rich in fiber, whole grains, and polyunsaturated fatty acids, regular exercise and weight loss.
