My 25 years old son went on a holiday to egypt. he got a persisitent nose bleed and had to go to a hopsital. his platelet count got reduced to 12 and the doctors did a platelet transfusion. now, he is taking cortisol. should he bemedically evacuated to uk

Yes?: Not sure if you are asking or telling us that he is being flown back to the uk. Platelets that low will cause abnormal bleeding and platelets are necessary. There are several conditions that cause low platelets and a hematologist would be the specialist to see. The initial interventions could be done in egypt and once more stable could be flown home.

Low platelets: Yes! your sons platelet count is the primary underlying cause of his nose bleeds. The best specialist to figure out the underlying cause is a haematologist. I agree with the urgent nature of his return to uk by way of air evac. His condition is one that should be managed with same urgency. Best of luck to you.

Yes, absolutely: He should see a hematologist to complete work up and continue further treatment etc. Itp is one possibility- but also need to make sure one does not overlook something important.
