There are non-doctor: Therapists who know how to deal with sleep disorders might be able to help and you certainly can state a preference to avoid medication. Who prescribed your med? If your life style is able to accommodate the day/night shift - it may not be a problem. Depression is another thing tho. Again, you don't have to go or stay on the drug path. Find a psychotherapist to talk to - don't go it alone.

Depression: Confide in someone close to you and ask for help figuring out what is troubling you. Establish good lifestyle habits like daily exercise, good diet, calming activities and see if your low mood lifts. If your mood remains low for several days you really should consult with a mental health professional, it could really help you. Best wishes.
